How Bhumi Poojan (Ground-breaking) muhurat is chosen
A muhurat (auspicious time) for bhumi poojan (ground-breaking) is selected so that the moon, weekday and lunar combinations support the ceremony. ZingAstro scores every upcoming day for Madurai on five factors — the nakshatra (we favour the classical nakshatras for this activity), the vara (weekday lord), the tithi (avoiding the Rikta tithis and Amavasya for new beginnings), the yoga and the karana (avoiding Vishti/Bhadra) — and ranks the best dates. The auspicious choghadiya windows and the ever-auspicious Abhijit muhurat around midday give the best time within the day.
Why these dates are specific to Madurai
Sunrise, sunset and the exact moment the moon changes nakshatra differ by location, so the panchang — and therefore the muhurat — is computed for Madurai's coordinates (9.93°N, 78.12°E) and local time. This makes the timings precise for Madurai and the surrounding region of Tamil Nadu, India.
