Because a raw guna score is the easy part, and almost nobody does the hard part — which is checking whether the doshas that zeroed your score are cancelled.
Same Nadi and eight points vanish, which is usually what turns a good-looking match into a rejected one. But the classical texts cancel it when the Moon signs differ, when the nakshatras differ within the same sign, or when the padas differ. A calculator that just subtracts the eight points is telling you something the tradition itself does not agree with.
The 6/8, 9/5 and 2/12 Moon-sign spacings are treated as serious. They are also cancelled when both signs share a lord, or when the two lords are mutual friends. Between Nadi and Bhakoot that is fifteen of thirty-six points hanging on cancellations most tools never check.
Guna Milan compares two Moon nakshatras. It does not look at either 7th house, either 7th lord, either Venus, or where Mars sits on either side. Two charts can score 30 and still have both 7th lords in difficult houses. That is why this report reads the charts, not just the score.
