The Panchang is the Hindu almanac — a daily record of the cosmos used for centuries to time everything from festivals to farming. Its name means 'five limbs': tithi, vara, nakshatra, yoga and karana, each computed from the precise positions of the Sun and Moon for your city and date.
Each day carries good windows like the Abhijit and Brahma muhurat, and periods to avoid such as Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda and Gulika Kaal. We compute these from the day's sunrise and sunset, so they are exact for your location — start important work in the auspicious windows and avoid the inauspicious ones.
The Choghadiya divides the day and night into eight parts each, labelled Amrit, Shubh, Labh (good), Char (neutral) and Udveg, Rog, Kaal (avoid). It is the quickest way to pick a good hour for travel, meetings or shopping when a full muhurat isn't needed.
