Five powerful yogas formed by Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn can produce a great personality. Learn the Panch Mahapurusha Yogas.
The Panch Mahapurusha (five great person) Yogas are formed by the five non-luminary planets — Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn — when one of them sits in its own sign or exaltation and in a Kendra (1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house). Each yoga has its own name: Ruchaka (Mars), Bhadra (Mercury), Hamsa (Jupiter), Malavya (Venus) and Shasha (Saturn).
These are among the classic markers of an exceptional, accomplished personality.
Ruchaka Yoga, from a strong Mars, gives courage, leadership and a commanding physique. Bhadra Yoga, from Mercury, grants intelligence, eloquence and business acumen. Hamsa Yoga, from Jupiter, bestows wisdom, righteousness and a respected, spiritual nature.
Malavya Yoga, from Venus, brings beauty, refinement, luxury and artistic gifts, while Shasha Yoga, from Saturn, produces authority, discipline and influence over many people. Each shapes the personality toward the qualities of its planet.
For the yoga to fully express, the planet should be genuinely strong — unafflicted, ideally not combust, and supported in the Navamsa. A Mahapurusha planet hemmed by malefics or weak by other measures gives a reduced result.
When strong, these yogas often define a person's public identity and tend to flower during the dasha of the planet involved, marking peaks of achievement and recognition.
They are five great-person yogas formed by Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus or Saturn in own sign or exaltation in a Kendra.
Hamsa Yoga is formed by a strong, well-placed Jupiter and bestows wisdom, righteousness and a respected nature.
Only when the planet is genuinely strong and unafflicted; weakness or affliction reduces the effect considerably.
